HISTORY OF FARM

Citizen Roots started in the fall of 2013 by turning an overgrown plot of weeds and trees into a vibrant micro farm, producing vegetables, fruit, herbs, and flowers for the local community.  In the spring of 2015, Citizen Roots will be adding bee hives and laying hens! 

THE FARMER

Rebecca grew up gardening in rural Southeast Nebraska.  After apprenticing on an organic vegetable farm in Upstate New York, she returned to her home in Lincoln, Nebraska to pursue her dream of growing fresh produce for her community using sustainable farming methods.  She currently is taking steps to become a certified Master Gardener.

CITIZEN ROOTS -- LITTLE CITIZENS PROGRAM

The Little Citizens Program serves the local community youth by giving tours of the farm and educating children on the benefits of growing their own vegetables.  It provides children with an appreciation of where their food comes from and a better understanding proper nutrition.
